BEIJING, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) — China’s railways network topped 100,000 km in total mileage on Saturday, as several new high-speed rail links started operations ahead of one of the busiest travel seasons next month.The newly opened links include the Xiamen-Shenzhen railway, Xi’an-Baoji railway, Chongqing-Lichuan railway, and others in southwest China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and have a combined mileage of 2,000 km.Of the 100,000 km of track, more than 10,000 km are highspeed, said Hu Yadong, vice general manager of the China Railway Corporation.

Kenya inks new deal to extend China-funded high speed railway – People’s Daily Online

he Kenyan government on Saturday signed a new agreement that will extend the Mombasa-Nairobi standard gauge railway (‪‎SGR‬) line to Naivasha, a town lies about 120 kms northwest of the capital. The deal was signed by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBR) and Kenya Railways during a Cabinet Steering Committee on SGR meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

A social media post, published by Beijing’s municipal government yesterday, finally confirmed that China are to go ahead with plans to build a multi-billion dollar high-speed rail link between Beijing and Moscow. The line aims will provide super fast transport across Central Asia and will compete with the Trans-Siberian Railway, cutting travel time between the two countries from six days to two, according to the government’s post on social media website Weibo.

Railway linking China, ASEAN becomes operational|WCT

A railway that links southwest China’s Yunnan province with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries became operational on Saturday after seven years of construction, local railway authorities said. The railway between Yuxi and Mengzi is part of the eastern line of the planned Pan-Asia Railway network. The 141-km railway has a designed maximum speed of 120 km per hour. It passes through 35 tunnels and crosses 61 bridges, which together account for almost 55% of the eastern line’s total length.
